DRAMA AT 5:55 A.M.

So, I'm up early this morning and notice that through the window (mine faces north) there is a wonderful sunrise that I want to be sure to capture on my lovely new digital camera (thanks again, kids).

I don't know which genius opened the screen - but in my angling over the desk table for just the right shot - whoops - the camera falls two+ floors to the terrace below.

Did I mention how much stone and tile and cement there is everywhere?

I was sure the camera was doomed, but it did hit a tree on it's way down and I could sit it lying - lens opening up - on the terrace below.

It is, of course, 5:55 in the morning and I didn't go to sleep until after 2:00 a.m. and, yup, I have to get at least decently dressed to hike down the madreigot - the stairs - to the terrace below.

I left the screen open, hung a pink shirt a little way out the window so I would know where to begin looking.

Hooray - the bottom of the camera was open and both batteries were missing (I did find one of them) - but I've been taking pictures of various signs (I know, I'm so boring) and the camera does seem to be working. When I put new batteries in it, the little display suggested turning it off and on again because the lens didn't close properly. I did so and all seems well.

I don't know if it's worth a quick hooray to the HP folks, but I'm quite pleased.

May all your bobbles be uneventful.

Rabbi Heath
