Nomenclature is telling.
Consider the relational distance between you and your elderly family members when they are not living with you or "on their own" but are living in a "parents' home" (Israel) or living in a "nursing home" (United States).
I think you can figure it out. I don't know what to make of it other than nomenclature is telling.
